Environmental Regulations Effect on Small Businesses

Environmental Regulations Effect on Small Businesses
Posted date: 29/04/2021

There are several environmental regulations for large and small businesses in the United States. The Environmental Protection Agency regulations include aspects of clean air, water, drinking water, resource conservation, emergency planning, pollution, toxic prevention and control, and similar regulations.

Working through the regulations in place by the EPA, a company is able to produce and still remain within the confines of these rules. Keeping the drinking water of a city or state safe from waste, keeping pollution away from the air and ensuring resources are not wasted are often necessary when implementing a plan on creating and manufacturing items within a plant. When the goal is to ensure these regulations are met, it is often possible to perform without causing problems or incurring extra costs. Utilizing solar power, wind turbines and similar sources of power may provide an opportunity to go green and increase awareness of the community in these efforts with the company.

Clean Air and Water

Through Acts, businesses are affected by the EPA in ensuring there are certain processes that provide for a better way of keeping the air and water cleaner even when manufacturing of products creates toxic waste. The clean air regulations and rules demand that the company keeps pollution to a minimum, and fines are often incurred when a certain percentage of waste is expelled into the atmosphere. If this is enough, the company is pressed into alternative measures of creating products and keeping toxic fumes from leaving the compound without some form of cleansing. Going green is one alternative that could provide the most benefit.

Clean water is imperative for both the environment and when using liquid treatment for product manufacture. Because of this, toxic waste and other hazards are reduced when possible to ensure that the EPA regulations and requirements are met. However, this may lead to toxins being bottled in large jugs or other containers and then buried at a predetermined site. This may prevent the waste from entering the water supply, it could poison the land when not property accomplished. Some companies decide to change how the products are manufactured to prevent this type of waste and toxin from being created.

Pollution and Toxic Waste

Many companies create pollution and toxic waste when creating products in plants or manufacturing structures. When the goal of these items it creates in mass production and not to ensure green energy or a conservation of resources, the EPA becomes involved. It is important to reduce or eliminate pollution through the air, water and in the earth as much as possible to keep the EPA away and to increase community involvement. By implementing practices that promote a cleaner and healthy environment, it is possible to progress into the future. Then, the company no longer needs to try to keep up with the regulations.

Conserving resources and cleaning up toxic waste often are involved. When resources are squandered, the company may increase production. However, an equal measure of toxic waste could be manufactured through use of equipment or as a byproduct of items created. By adhering to the EPA standards, it is possible to keep toxic waste and other chemical issues away from the company. Increasing the use and regulation of resources is also helpful to the company.

Planning and the Community

It is important for the small business to plan on emergency issues with the environment and within the company itself. Additionally, the community has a right to know about various practices in place. If the business has started producing pollution to contaminate the air for the local cities, this could lead to a full investigation into the matter. It is also important to hire a lawyer to ensure protocols followed are valid and legal. This may prevent an issue with the EPA.
