Is there a fine for playing music too loud at the wedding?
Posted date: 06/04/2020

My daughter's wedding is coming soon, so my family wants my daughter to be happier and that day will be more uproarious. However, as far as I know, turning on the music too loud may affect people living around and we may be fined for this act. Can you advise me if my family would be fined in this case? Thank you!

FDVN’s opinions:

Thank you for concerning and trusting in FDVN’s legal services. We have studied the law provisions to provide you with our advice. Please kindly see the answer below:

According to Clause 1, Article 6 of the Circular No. 04/2011/TT-BVHTTDL on regulations on organizing a wedding at home or at the other places:

“1. The organization of weddings at home or at wedding venues must comply with the following provisions:

a) Ensuring solemnity, thrift, playfulness, healthiness and suitability with customs, habits and cultural traditions of each locality, ethnic group and religion and in accordance with the circumstances of the two families;

b) Procedures for engagement and wedding should be organized according to customs and practices; unobtrusive and cumbersome; not serious in demanding gifts;

...

e) Music at weddings must be healthy and playful; sound must not exceed the permissible noise level according to Vietnam standards, which is made in the Vietnam standards issued together with Decision No. 2351/1998/QD-BKHCNMT dated December 5, 1998 of the Ministry of Science and Technology and Environment (now Ministry of Science and Technology); do not play music before 06 am and after 22 pm”.

If violating, a fine of VND 100,000 - VND 300,000 will be imposed as prescribed at Point a, Clause 1, Article 6 of Decree 167/2013/ND-CP.

That is the advice of FDVN to your request, based on the study of legal regulations. Hopefully FDVN's advice will be useful to you.
